About Us

Hello Iowa School Counselors,

I’m Allison Graham, and I’m honored to serve as your ISCA Board Chair this year. I’m entering my fifth year as a school counselor and recently transitioned from K-4 counseling to working with 5th and 6th graders at Berg Middle School in Newton CSD. It’s an exciting season of change, growth, and new opportunities!

Outside of school, I’m a women’s basketball fan (go Hawks and WNBA!), a Taylor Swift enthusiast, and a proud dog snuggler currently in my tattoo era.

Moving ISCA Forward

Over the past two years, the ISCA Board has taken important steps to ensure our association remains sustainable, financially responsible, and responsive to your needs. We’ve transitioned into policy governance, allowing the board to set the vision while our operations teams bring it to life.

This year, we’re focused on strengthening our operational teams in Professional Development, Advocacy, Membership & Awards, Communications, and Conference Planning. If you’d like to get involved, reach out to Courtney Cook, and she’ll connect you with the right committee.

Mentorship & Connection

Our mentorship program, relaunched at last year’s conference, is thriving! ISCA members with fewer than six years in the role can be paired with a mentor for added support; email me if you’re interested.

I’m also hosting monthly listening sessions to hear directly from counselors across the state. Watch your email for upcoming dates and join the conversation.

Mark Your Calendars

We can’t wait to celebrate ISCA’s 60th Anniversary Conference, happening November 2-4 at the Iowa Events Center. Stay tuned for more details soon!

As we head into the school year, I encourage you to choose a word or two to guide you. Mine are patience and trust, reminders to slow down, build relationships, and embrace change.

Here’s to a year of connection, collaboration, and advancing school counseling across Iowa.

Warmly,
Allison Graham
