I was drawn to school counseling after several years investigating child abuse cases for the Department of Human Services. That experience pushed me to make the shift into a role where I could help students before things reached a crisis point. I have a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Iowa and a Master’s in School Counseling from Capella University. I am also a certified yoga instructor, and I love bringing that training into my work with students. Right now I am excited about strengthening our school’s MTSS process, using data to identify students who need support at every tier and make sure they get it.
I am passionate about connecting with school counselors across the state, and ISCA has been a phenomenal source of school counseling specific enrichment that keeps sharpening my skills. Outside of school, my family comes first. I have two daughters who keep me busy with wrestling, Saddlebred horse showing, dance, and softball, and my husband is currently serving in the United States Air Force. When I get a spare moment, I enjoy quilting, crochet, baking, and soaking up the sun.
