I have been a school counselor for ten years, and I currently serve students in grades K-5 in the Sioux City Community School District. I have always enjoyed working with kids and young people, and I loved going to school myself when I was growing up, so this work felt like a great fit. This year I am working to align more closely with ASCA’s expectations. My school does not require it, but I think it matters for how well a school counselor can do the job. Professional development is a big part of why I wanted to serve ISCA. School counseling keeps evolving, and as Professional Development Co-Chair I want to help make professional learning more accessible, effective, and enjoyable for other school counselors. Outside of school we are a very active family. My husband and I have two kids, and we love to swim, play golf, and travel. I also enjoy reading and gardening.
